There is no denying that social media has paved way and given creatives all over the world a space to be themselves and build reputable brands and Zambian creatives are no exception. With the rise of social media, Zambian creatives have been documenting their stuff on different social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TIKTOK, YouTube and Twitter to mention but a few. These creatives have gone against the odds and proven to everyone that creativity always wins in the end.
From You-tubers, fashion and food bloggers, lifestyle influencers, digital analysts, photographers, writers, makeup artists, models, visual artists and so on, Zambian creatives or social media boo’s (as we like to call them) have taken social media by storm. They are all over our screens, billboards, ads/campaigns and print media. Without further ado, here are five Zambian creatives that are doing great things and deserve everyone’s attention.
1. Nyemba Tembo

Popularly known for her eye-catching entertaining YouTube videos, Nyemba is a Digital content creator who holds a BA in Broadcast Journalism. With a strong social media presence and a massive audience of 14K on Instagram. Nyemba has managed to create a brand of her own.
″Personally, I love social media so much because it has facilitated and continues to facilitate a lot of growth for me as a you-tuber and content creator generally. I have grown on YouTube through cross promoting myself on apps like Instagram, twitter and snapchat.″
Nyemba explains that whenever she has a new video out, she’s quick to post on other social media apps to let people know that she has new content out and that then helps drive traffic to the vlogs. In ending the You-tuber highlights that, ″I like twitter a lot for promotion because people are able to easily retweet what I post and that way there’s more traction resulting in more people knowing about me and what I do.″

2. Samuel Mapulanga

Samuel Mapulanga is a model, fashion blogger and brand influencer, who is currently a final year student pursuing a double-major Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Entrepreneurship. In today’s world, social media has become a necessary daily activity that has influenced creatives in a variety of ways.
″Over the past few years, social media has helped me promote myself as a brand as well as getting recognition for my work, understanding my niche and audience has helped me see things differently and helped me make adjustments towards the content that I post.″
Samuel prefers Instagram because of its microblog features and feel which makes it excellent for visual content. The platform has helped him find more aesthetically pleasing creatives and this has enabled him grow his engagement.

3. Taonga Kaonga

Taonga is a digital marketing specialist, writer and sustainable fashion advocate. Her work is influenced by an innate love for storytelling, human connection and desire to see the fashion industry and media spaces grow and develop in Zambia.
Because of the nature of her work, it is important to her that she stays connected to her audiences especially through social media. She uses these social platforms to share her work, connect with her audience and get inspiration as well.
When asked about what has been the highlight of her using social media, she shares, ″Social media has proven to be very effective in that I use it positively. It has grown my network and given me many opportunities.″

4. Wengo Kaluba

Blogger, Podcaster and You tuber, these are just a few things that define Wengo. Popularly known for his writing skills under the blog domain ‵Wenguss Khan′ The lifestyle blog has so much to offer from lifestyle and entertainment, to sport and business/politics.
″For Zambian creatives specifically, I like how different creators have started to understand the power of context. They now know that they do not have to be on every social media platform, but the ones that matter to their audience.″
Wengo explained how context is an important element in content creation and how exciting it is to see how all these Zambian creatives flourishing.

5. Nampwa Inambao

It is often said that ‵to live a full life, you have to fill your stomach first.′ Food blogger/lover Nampwa, who trades under the business Instagram name ‵forkingaroundlusaka′
″What made me start my business is the fact that I was already hyper visible, so the support was readily available and it was just easy to get into it because I already had a huge platform.″ Forking around Lusaka will get you to the best food destinations and help you discover new places to eat at.
Social media buzz has helped Nampwa stay consistent with her brand, be strategic with her content and get closer to her audience.

In the end, it’s about sharing your life’s work with the people who will appreciate it. It’s about making connections with people who want to share your journey and the beauty that you have created and it is safe to say Zambian creatives are doing this in every sense of the word.
