When it comes to making creative videos or hyper-visual content, TikTok creatives are definitely the gatekeepers. The rise of social media has led to the Gen Z taking over TikTok content creation. From vlogs, dance, and funny videos, to voiceovers and popularizing of audios, these TikTok creatives are not slowing down. They are on most trends appearing on our screens and their videos are massively shared. TikTok makes it easy for them to be who they are and that is why it is no strange thing that they keep making viral videos breaking user records.
Here are four Zambian TikTok creatives who fit the above narrative.
1. Ruth Ronnie

Ruth Ronnie is an award-winning singer/songwriter, recording artist, and live performer. She is also an actress and most of you might remember her from the emPawa Africa initiative by Mr. Eazi. Having studied, Human Resource Management, Ruth took the creative path. “I’ve been singing my whole life and working in the creative industry for nearly a decade,” she shares.
“I like creating content on TikTok because the features make it so easy to record and edit. It’s much faster than creating content on other platforms. TikTok also has a higher reach because of the ‘For You’ page so creators stand a better chance of getting their content seen by everyone, even by users who don’t follow them.”
TikTok is a place where creators can be 100% themselves and don’t have to put up a “polished” image and everyone loves that!” She explains.
Ruth uses TikTok to share her daily life by creating vlogs. By doing this, she has managed to build a whole new TikTok community that is very supportive and interested in what she has to offer as an artist. “I call my TikTok audience my besties because that’s how I see them. They are my friends, it might be in a parasocial way but I highly value each and every one of them for supporting me.” she shares.
Ruth also uses TikTok to create singing duets with other music creators and that draws attention to her music.
“I blew up on TikTok by vlogging my daily life and being my true authentic self. I let my personality shine through my vlog voiceovers and I show both the positive and negative aspects of my day and people can relate to that. I also blew up for doing a dance in a silly outfit lol that has been my most viral TikTok so far.” Ruth shares.

When asked about how one can create a viral TikTok video, Ruth highlighted authenticity as one of the key elements and how important it is for creatives to not doubt their ideas because you can go viral on TikTok for the most unexpected things.
In ending, the TikTok star shares “TikTok is a great platform for artists and small businesses to grow their brand, so I would advise anyone to try it out. It’s also a place where you can learn a lot while being entertained. So anyone can benefit something from it. I’m hoping to see more people join TikTok and having the kind of positive experience I have been having with it.”
